We all know parenting can be tough. In fact, it’s often cited by mothers as one of the hardest things they experience.

The main source of difficulty comes from the massive amount of responsibilities you have to manage.

Making sure they’re ready for school, have clothes that fit, and are developing skills at a proper rate can be exhausting. In the early years, making sure they eat properly can be a tough time, too.

When your child is an infant, they will often consume plenty of baby formula. But, once your pediatrician has deemed that your baby is old enough to consume solid foods, you can be a little more creative with your options.

There are plenty of baby cereal recipes you can follow to give your child a nutritious, enjoyable experience.

Read on to discover simple ways to prepare cereal for your baby.

Rice Is the Foundation

The majority of baby cereals use brown rice as the main ingredient. To be more specific, they use brown rice powder, which you can make by grinding up brown rice with a blender or food processor.

The recipe is exceedingly simple: bring a pot of water to a simmer, grind the brown rice into powder, and cook for 6 to 10 minutes.

Usually, you will mix the rice powder with water to give the cereal a soupy consistency. But, you can also use baby formula is an ingredient if you are concerned about the vitamins and minerals your baby is consuming.

From here, whatever you add next is up to personal preference.

Bananas

Plenty of baby cereal recipes incorporate bananas due to the fact that they are an excellent source of potassium.

To add bananas into the mix, you’ll want to cut one in half and mash it into a paste. You can then mix it into the cereal to give it a little more flavor.

This is also an excellent opportunity to get your child to try different fruits. You can add the bananas after the cereal is prepared, or while it is cooking.

Blueberries

Although they are soft, blueberries can pose a choking hazard to smaller children.

In order to avoid any issues, it’s best to blend up the blueberries before mixing them in.

Blueberries are an excellent source of antioxidants and can help your child develop healthy eating habits early on when you mix them with baby cereal.

Don’t Forget about Oatmeal

Not all baby cereal has to be made from brown rice powder. However, the recipe is just a simple.

Like brown rice cereal, it is very easy to prepare oatmeal for your infant child.

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil before adding 1/4 cup of ground oats. Constantly whisk it as it cooks over the next 10 minutes. Like brown rice cereals, you can add your choice of fruit to the recipe.
