KENDAMIL GOAT FORMULA
Whole Goat Milk With a Distinctive Nutritional Profile
Three things set Kendamil Goat apart from Kendamil Classic: whole A2 goat milk instead of cow’s milk, goat whey instead of cow whey, and GOS without added FOS.
-
“Whole” means the milk retains its natural milk fat. “A2” refers to the type of beta-casein protein in the milk. Goat milk predominantly contains A2 beta-casein rather than A1 beta-casein.
Using whole goat milk in infant formula can provide short- and medium-chain fatty acids and sn-2 palmitic acid. Goat milk contains roughly 30–40 mg of phospholipids per 100 g, with about 60% associated with the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM). Because Kendamil Goat uses whole milk, some of its fat and membrane phospholipids come from the milk itself alongside added vegetable oils.
Goat milk is an accepted infant formula base, but it cannot treat cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA). Goat and cow milk proteins can cross-react, so affected babies may react to both. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises against goat milk formula for infants with CMPA.
If CMPA is suspected, consult your pediatrician for a diagnosis rather than switching formulas on your own. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia explains that pediatricians may recommend extensively hydrolyzed or amino acid formulas instead.
-
Milk-derived galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) act as prebiotics that feed certain bacteria already present in the gut. GOS acts as a prebiotic by feeding certain bacteria already present in the gut. Kendamil Goat contains the prebiotic GOS but no added probiotic cultures, a difference worth noting against HiPP, which adds both.
-
Kendamil Goat uses Red Tractor-certified whole goat milk as its main dairy base. The formula includes vegetarian sources of DHA and ARA, two long-chain fatty acids used in infant formula. DHA comes from Schizochytrium microalgae, while ARA comes from Mortierella alpina oil. Both are non-fish, vegetarian sources.
-
Kendamil Goat comes in First Infant Milk, Follow-On Milk, and Toddler Milk. Each stage is labeled for a different age. All three share algae-derived DHA and ARA, GOS, and no palm or fish oil.
Kendamil Goat Formula Ingredients
The UK and U.S. Kendamil Goat recipes share the whole-goat-milk base but differ in ingredient names, amounts and labeled age ranges.

KENDAMIL GOAT FORMULA
How to Prepare and Store
Preparation instructions differ by stage and market, so follow the tin you receive. The steps below cover UK Goat Stages 1 and 2.
-
Wash your hands and clean the preparation surface before handling the formula. Bottles, teats, and feeding equipment should also be properly sterilized. Prepare one feed at a time. Powdered formula is not sterile, so use water at 70°C or above to kill harmful bacteria.
-
For UK Goat Stage 1 and Stage 2, Kendamil recommends freshly boiled tap water. Let the water cool for no longer than 30 minutes. The water should remain at least 70°C before adding the powder. Measure the water into the bottle first. Add the correct number of level scoops, then shake until the powder dissolves.
-
Kendamil Goat uses 1 level scoop for every 30 ml of water across the UK Stage 1, 2, and 3 formulas. Scoop weights differ slightly between stages. Stage 1 and Stage 2 use a 4.3 g scoop, while Stage 3 uses a 4.6 g scoop. Always use the scoop supplied with your tin. Never add extra powder or extra water to change the feed’s strength.
-
Make each feed fresh and use it within 2 hours; once your baby has started a bottle, discard what is left, because saliva seeds bacteria in the remaining milk. Follow the specific storage instructions on U.S. products when using the U.S. recipe.
-
Use an opened tin within 4 weeks. Keep it cool and dry with the lid closed, away from sunlight and heat. Avoid storing it in the fridge or freezer, as moisture can cause the powder to clump.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
About Kendamil Goat Formula
-
Formuland ships UK Kendamil Goat Stages 1, 2 and 3 to the U.S., sourced from authorized UK and European distributors, with duties included.
-
Kendamil Goat Stage 1 is a nutritionally complete infant formula suitable from birth. It is not suitable for cow’s milk protein allergy. Always check the regional label before feeding. Goat-based infant formulas must meet the applicable infant-formula composition rules in the market where they are sold.
-
Gas is common in the first months on any formula, and feeding technique matters: keep the nipple full of milk to limit swallowed air. If gas is persistent or painful, speak with your pediatrician. Keeping the nipple filled with milk during feeding can help reduce swallowed air. If gas becomes persistent or painful, speak with your pediatrician.
-
The main difference is the milk source. Kendamil Classic uses whole cow milk, while the Goat range uses whole A2 goat milk and goat whey. Classic contains GOS and FOS, while Goat contains GOS without added FOS. Both formulas also contain naturally occurring 3’-GL, whole milk fats, and algae-derived DHA.
-
Neither is “better”: choose Kendamil Organic if certified organic cow’s milk matters most to you, and Kendamil Goat if you want a whole-goat-milk base. Both are complete first infant formulas.
-
Not necessarily. Kendamil Goat Stage 1 provides 0.7 mg of iron and 16 mg of DHA per 100 ml of prepared formula. Both fall within the EU infant formula requirements of 0.3–1.3 mg iron and 20–50 mg DHA per 100 kcal. Cow’s milk formulas follow these same nutritional limits, although their exact amounts may differ.
-
There is no proven digestive advantage over cow’s milk formula. A 2024 randomized trial published in BMC Pediatrics compared 56 infants receiving goat or cow’s milk formula. Both groups showed similar stool consistency, spit-up, and crying patterns. The study was small, so further research is needed. Speak with your pediatrician if digestive symptoms continue or worsen.
-
Kendamil recommends gradually replacing your baby’s current formula, starting with one feed and increasing over several days. Some babies can switch directly, but stool color and consistency may change. Always prepare each formula according to its own instructions. Consult your pediatrician before switching if your baby has feeding difficulties or suspected allergies. Seek medical advice for vomiting, bloody stools, rashes, or poor weight gain.
